Good afternoon,

Really after some help in identifying a gearbox whine/rubbing noise. The conditions have been hard to replicate, but we seem to have narrowed it down to sharp turns start the sound and tracing the source seems to come from where the gearbox mates with the engine, if you listen between the battery housing and airbox it looks right down on that union where the noise is loudest. My son thinks it could be a gearbox oil starvation issue when turning, but it doesn't go away even when stopped at the side of the road, then when you drive off again it's gone within 500 yards. He said it could potentially be bearing related input or alike, but as we say this is potentials and we wanted to see if anyone has had this exact issue.

I have found a video online that very clearly shows the sound, but the owner is Eastern European and provided no further information and answered no questions in the comments.
Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cswLVm ... WL&index=1

If anyone has had this issue and can advise on what to be telling the dealership as they have not been able to replicate it, typical. Also any idea of cost or even if there is a quick/simple fix for me to try in the interim.

Thank you very much

Mavis

I haven't looked under the bonnet of a Karoq since I got rid of mine so can't remember the exact layout.
First things that spring to mind are water pump or alternator.
Suggest you contact dealer pronto!
