Hi,

I have a Karoq Scout 4x4 2.0 diesel (148), manual gearbox, now about 45,000 miles young and new in 2019. The Scout is mechanically very similar to the SEL Karoq. It is fully (and recently) serviced and appears to be running ok. However the mpg is disappointing as I rarely get more than 50 mpg when fully warmed up, on a run and driven gently, and the norm is the low 40’s. Compare with my previous Skoda Octavia Scout with exactly the same drivetrain and very similar kerbweight in which 60 mpg on a run was not difficult to achieve, and I guess that the Octavia was around 8 mpg better all round. I don’t understand why there is such a difference between the two cars. It surely just can’t all be due to the Octavia being more slippery through the air? Both cars were more economical during warmer weather which can be explained by the diesel engine possibly not getting fully warmed up in winter.

I tow a caravan, and surprisingly the difference in mpg when towing is negligible, both cars averaging between 30-33 mpg when the caravan is hooked up, depending on terrain.

What do other Karoq owners get? Should I be worried?

Regards

Garth
