I’ve had my 2018 Karoq for 3 weeks. 44,000 miles, Manual, petrol, 1 litre engine and brought under the Skoda used approved scheme. I’ve drive Skodas before and never had problems. HOWEVER this Karoq is turning me into a very nervous driver.

The engine is stalling or cutting out when at very slow speeds such as in stop-start traffic, going up steep hills, turning right across a lane of traffic. When it does stall / cut out it can’t be restarted again for what seems a long time. Sometimes a message comes up ‘depress clutch’ but that does nothing. And it’s also getting stuck in gears - you can’t move it out of reverse, or you can’t move it from first to second. Intermittent problem but becoming worrying and dangerous at times.

I’ve taken it to be looked over by the garage who can’t find anything wrong with it and have suggested going to a Skoda dealership to check. My partner thinks it’s us but I’ve neither of us have had a problem driving cars before. Someone please help as I really dislike driving it :(

Hi , is it 1.5 TSI petrol engine ?
Mine is a 1.5 and at revs near to idle it lacks power and it will stall , I find it needs a few more revs either lower gear or depress the clutch to let it slip slightly , not too much otherwise it will get hot .
When mine stalls it will restart the engine by depressing the clutch pedal , there is a slight delay
I've heard the gear problem can be the cables need adjusting between the gear stick and gear box , but I might be miss quoting .
Have you previous cars been diesel engines there less likely to stall at low revs
Colin might be able to shed a bit more light on your issue's

No He said it's the 1.0L
Sadly I don't think I can. All my Karoqs were 1.5L DSG.

I have never heard of this problem, but MIke might well be correct. I think a trip to the dealer is called for. Sorry!

Sorry I mist the petrol 1ltr at the beginning of the post .
I had a 1ltr petrol karoq and sold it it after 18000 miles .
For me the engine was quicker on pulling away than the 1.5 .
I didn't have any of those issues and as Colin says back to the dealer to let them know your issues .
I hope you get it sorted to help restore your confidence

If bought under the Skoda Approved Used scheme, I'd take it back to the Skoda dealer you bought it from. Both faults sound dangerous to me, and need to be sorted out.
VW Golf GT 1.9TDI from 11/98 to 3/06; Skoda Octavia L&K 2.0TDI from 3/06 to 12/11; VW Golf Plus SE 1.6TDI DSG from 12/11 to 2/15; VW Golf SV SE 1.4TSI DSG from 2/15 to 11/20; Skoda Karoq Sportline 2.0TSI 4x4 DSG from 11/20.
