Hi,
Purchased a Second hand Caroq SE 1.0 2 months ago, first registered March 2021.
Travelling back down the M6 back from holiday when 'SOS Error: Emergency Call Workshop!'
This is coupled with the yellow triangle ⚠️ came up on the screen, also on the car status screen a diagram of the car with the steering wheel area highlighted in yellow.
We stopped at the next services to investigate the manual and to re-fuel. When I went back to the drivers door it had locked itself, luckily the wife was in the car and was able to unlock. We have also had bogus tyre pressure warning on the rear near side tyre in the last week too. We don’t have the factory Satnav active and use Waze through Apple CarPlay.
We rang Marshalls Skoda Nottingham and explained the SOS Error message and they appeared aware of the issue and said we needed to book it in for a software update. The car has a 1year Skoda extended warranty in place. They asked at the time if we had the warranty. We took it in today and was told they had done a recall update for the phantom locking issue, no charge but the SOS Error message software update was chargeable £99.
I’ve read on this forum that this appears to be a common issue with the car and wander if anyone else has been charged to get the software update or have they had it done free if the car was out of the 3 year warranty. (The small print of the warranty was pointed out to us which suggests software updates are not covered.) Have Skoda actually acknowledged it’s a fault and subject to a recall at any point?

I would have thought its nothing to do with warranty, its covered under the Consumer rights Act see https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/advice/car ... -act-2015/
Your rights: After 30 days

If a fault comes to light between 30 days and six months of buying a vehicle, you’re entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

It’s assumed in law that the fault was present at the time of purchase unless the seller can prove otherwise.
If it required a software update to fix it then there was obviously a fault present in the previous software!

How often does this happen? If it is once, then see if it happens again. I've had this issue 3 times in the last 2 years or so. Mine got so bad that on a journey of 25 miles to the dealer it went off 4 times, after the fourth I gave up stopping, turning off the engine and restarting as it would not go away. There are apparently 2 aerials in the system. On the first two occasions both aerials were replacced in turn, and on the third occasion one of the aerials was changed again after discussion between the dealer and Skoda Technical. We have just taken it on a long trip to the Austrian Lakes east of Salzburg and it has been fine all trip.
