How can you tell what kind of DSG a particular Karoq has, and whether it is a wet or dry clutch system? Do Skoda provide that information? Or is there a clue in the Certificate of Conformity sheet that comes with the car, which seems to have all manner of type information on it?

I believe that:

The DQ 200-7F (dry) gearbox can be fitted to front-wheel drive Karoqs with the 1.0TSI, 1.5TSI or 1.6TDI engines.

The DQ381-7A (wet) gearbox can be fitted to 4x4 Karoqs with the 1.5TSI, 2.0TSI or 2.0TDI engines.

There may well be an identity plate on the gearbox showing its type and serial number, but I don't know if it is visible under the bonnet.

VW Golf GT 1.9TDI from 11/98 to 3/06; Skoda Octavia L&K 2.0TDI from 3/06 to 12/11; VW Golf Plus SE 1.6TDI DSG from 12/11 to 2/15; VW Golf SV SE 1.4TSI DSG from 2/15 to 11/20; Skoda Karoq Sportline 2.0TSI 4x4 DSG from 11/20.

Brilliant! Looking at the Certificate of Conformity which came with the car, I can see one of the numbers you mentioned being embedded into the long code for "Roadload family's identifier". So that ties in with what you are saying, with it being the DQ381-7A wet clutch DSG in my 2.0 TDi diesel. Which I'm pleased with.

This Wiki article is interesting, and confirms exactly what you say Chris:-

Also comforting to see that the DSG is spec'd to cope with up to 420 Nm of torque, with my car's maximum being 340 Nm.
